Appealing to software buyers

August 24th, 2008 | by Ivan Kudryavtsev |

Some times we were in the situation, when the customer order some application or web site with certain features. Often our team works on the project according to technical specification trusting the arrangement of business to the customer. Our primary purpose to create the project in the way the customer wishes with best quality. We expect the customer is expert in domain field and knows how to develop the business after the software is ready. Finally, the project, dies immediately after development. The customer just doesn’t know what to do with it in the next step. He doesn’t know who are his customers, how the business should be developed, what to do next steps. Tons of questions…

Why such things happen? Because the project was ordered under the influence of next dream: “Wow, such a cool thing! People must love it!!!”. Thinking in that way the customer forgets about next things and factors:

  • market situation - is this project necessary for people?
  • competitive analysis - who is already in the market and what values they already have?
  • business analysis - who will develop and support the business after the launch?
  • minimal functionality necessary to enter the market.
  • marketing investigation is not done at all.
  • product sales strategy is unknown.

In short, the customer acts like: “I’ll do and see next!”. In 9 from 10 cases he looses. The project is a just trash even if it’s technologically cool. There are a lot of examples and even more than a lot of… Ideally designed systems are stored like a trash in the internet with zero visitors…

We write this posts for our old and new customers. Sirs, let us to move your project from an idea to business launch, or develop the strategy from the beginning to the end, before you order it. This approach not only saves your money, but allows us to be proud of work done.

Remember, our marketing, optimization and strategy departments are always open to you and ready to develop  or help to develop detailed business plan for you!

We are tired about the projects which lays in our portfolio with words “Broken by the customer“. Please, be reasonable in the large and next in small…
